I have always loved movement—whether it's swimming, dancing, stretching, climbing or running about daft. I worked on a flying trapeze for two summers (I'm not afraid of heights).

In 2015, I injured my back whilst bolting up a hill during some outdoor games. This happened because I didn't have an awareness or engagement of my core stability when exercising. Stress didn't help either. This herniated disc meant I couldn't do any of the physical activities that best supported my mental health.

When I could no longer move fast, I gave in and slowed down. I began doing gentle yoga and mindful movement. I attended physiotherapy. The supportive exercises I learned turned out to be this thing called Pilates. Once I established a regular practice, my strength, flexibility (and happiness) improved dramatically. Incorporating Yin Yoga was the cherry on top.

Today I'm much stronger and happier than I was prior to my injury. This is why I love sharing my experience and supporting other people on their movement journeys.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility, muscular strength and endurance movements. It can help you build great postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance, and improves functional movement for day-to-day life.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin is a relaxed, passive style of yoga that involves holding poses for longer durations and increasing your inner awareness. This can include paying attention to your breath, thoughts, and bodily sensations. In contrast to active and dynamic yoga practices, yin is static, slow, and allows us to work deeply with the muscles and fascia in our bodies.
